The Vertx EDC Ready Pack is one of our go to bags for discreet carry of short length carbines.

The EDC Ready Pack is a two-strap backpack that is a bit smaller/more discreet than the Gamut. In comparison to a few other models, the EDC RP is larger than the transit sling, about the same size as the commuter sling, and a bit smaller than the Last Call Pack.

This bag splits the middle of the pack offering a roomy backpack that isn’t too bulky. Layout is intuitive and the colors available allow blending in, regardless of your environment.

We have used the Ready Pack personally for years. It continues to be our go to medium sized bag for daily use.

One of our favorite aspects of the Ready Pack is the simplistic yet functional nature of the bag. The Ready Pack is not overloaded with pockets, but features adequate space for all critical daily gear. From medical, to hydration, laptops, notebooks, pens, phones, pistols or even compact rifles, the ready pack fits it all.

Four Sections of storage and organization:

The front most is a large pocket with some organization pouches and sleeves. The middle is larger, features loop and MOLLE and is great for spare mags or medical. The “main compartment” will fit laptops, iPads, notebooks, etc. The main compartment is where we store rifles. The rear most compartment is perfect for a pistol/CCW. It is also great to add some soft armor panels with a 9.6″X16.75″ approximate size.

1.) Are Vertx Bags really that great?

There are plenty of quality bags on the market. There are also many…not so great options. We bought our first Vertx bags back around 2015/2016. We have been a customer of Vertx for years and we have used nearly all of their backpacks, slings, and packs in our personal lives. Our team quite literally carries Vertx bags on us every single day. There is a reason: They are extremely well built, they are laid out well, they can take immense abuse, and the don’t look tactical. The last thing we want is to have bags that look tactical or are laid out poorly. The Vertx bags in general are well built, well thought out packs.

2.) Are these bags drop shipped?

No. We stock these physically in our warehouse and we only stock models that we have had the opportunity to get our hands on and use. We stock these bags so we can be sure to service you the way we know you want to be treated: Faster shipping, better service.

3.) Are Vertx bags made in the USA?

No. Vertx bags are manufactured in Vietnam.

4.) Who should consider the EDC Ready pack?

The EDC Ready pack is a medium sized bag. It is not too big, but still big enough to be used daily. While it does not have as much pocket space or organization pouches as the Gamut, it has ample space to keep your gear organized. For folks looking for a “to and from” bag that blends into nearly every environment, the EDC RP might be a solid option. Our team uses ready packs to carry laptops, medical gear, spare magazines, hydration, and other daily essentials.

5.) What size rifle will fit into the EDC Ready pack?

This bag will comfortably fit rifles that have folding stock mechanisms up to 8.6″ in barrel length. We have had great luck fitting our 7.5″ 300 BLK SBR’s and our 8.3″ Galil platforms. Bear in mind, your desired flash hider and stock/brace setup MAY change what fits into your bag. This bag has a diagonal interior dimension of approximately 19″H x 12″W.

6.) What is the best way to carry spare magazines?

We offer several variations of our mag shingles. We have a triple rifle version, a 2 Rifle 1 Pistol, and a Quad Pistol shingle for discreet bag carry.

7.) Who should steer clear of the EDC Ready pack?

If you are looking for a massive hiking pack or a bag that carries a 10.5″ or larger rifle, this bag will not be the best fit for you. For folks looking for a heavyweight backpack, the Gamut might be a better fit.
