Backpack Concealed Carry
We feel that Backpack Concealed Carry is a very important component of preparedness in general. If we desire to become modern minutemen, we need to carry and be capable of employing tools for that cause. Let’s talk about why we carry bags every single day.
Backpacks enable the carrying of important gear
Backpacks aren’t sexy, they aren’t even really that cool. But the moment we determine that we want to be more prepared, they become a critical piece of our kit. If you are looking at expanding your capabilities and ability to carry lifesaving gear, having a bag on tap is important. There is only so much that you can carry in your pockets and on body. A quality, well-laid out bag will give you the ability to have more gear and more comfort.
The basic idea here is that we are called to be responsible, capable citizens. We desire to have tools in our hands that can help us in all sorts of situations. While most people will immediately be thinking about rifle carry, bags afford so much more. Think: Medical, survival, changes of clothing, water, food, and other important gear.
Medical, Armor, and Daily Tools
If we state that we want to make a change in our culture, we need to start by identifying some consistent concepts. We see greed all around us, people unwilling to help others. So we’ve stated that in situations that are critical, we will step up. Defiant freedom gives us the right to choose, but when the chips fall and chaos ensues: we act. We carry the gear we need to have on hand to be capable of action. Preparedness is always a choice. Rarely do we have the tools we need on hand simply by happenstance. If you come across a traumatic medical injury, it is unlikely you will find a med kit, that you didn’t bring, within arms reach. It’s just not reality.
Because we are determined to be capable, to be assets, we prepare. How and what we carry will vary based on individual needs, but each bag has some similarities: We carry the tools we feel are most important daily. The right gun is the one you will always carry. The same can be said about your backpack. It would be better to have a smaller, less packed bag than to have a massive bag that is never with you.
Carefully tailor your backpack to your needs, consider the following items:
1.) Active response gear. This would include things like knives, extra mags, possibly a compact rifle or PDW.
2.) Passive response gear. This would include things like Armor. Stuff that you wear or wield not to fight, but to defend.
3.) Medical Gear. This is an absolute MUST for any concerned citizen. Far too few people carry medical gear, even though it is not taboo to do so.
4.) Sustainment gear. This is often food, water, a change of clothes, maybe a top layer to protect from rain or to add warmth.
The fighting tools are seen as “sexy”
You may look at bags and immediately prioritize firearms and fighting gear. That’s pretty typical in the “gun industry”. We tend to be obsessive over what rifle, what PDW, what suppressor, and whether you can fit your nods in your bag or not. While all of those things are important and can be critical, there are more basic, less sexy items that could be argued are actually more important. One thing that would be healthy for all our followers would be to focus first on sustainment and medical. Carry your primary pistol on your belt, and get your systems inside your bag dialed in. Can you go a day with what you have in your bag? Each of our situations varies wildly, so what that looks like to you could be very different from me.
For some of you, you’re looking to have a 3 day bag that could support you for 3 days. For guys like me, I just want enough tools and equipment to survive in my civilized world. Additionally, I keep response gear on hand, like quality medical gear, to help me in the most common situations. While I do OFTEN carry a bag rifle, I find myself prioritizing the medical side of the equation far more these days. Do I love backpack rifles? YES! I also carry armor, spare mags, and so much more. It’s important, but it’s not always my first consideration.
Preparedness is methodical and purposeful
Keep the gear that is most likely to be deployed on hand. If you’re living in the plains of the midwest and all you ever see is flat farm land, would you carry rappel rope, carabiners, and a harness to descend vertical walls? Likely not. It’s a silly example, I get it. But think about the things you use daily. Consider adding some redundancies to what you have in your pockets. If you have one flashlight in your pocket, maybe add a second to your bag. Maybe consider adding two spare batteries, one for each light. Consider the items that you handle and use most daily, then make sure those boxes are checked.
Having gear on hand helps us to be better citizens. When emergencies erupt, we have seconds to act. Most often first responders, in the professional sense, will arrive too late. For that reason it is imperative that each of us take this seriously and equip ourselves for the realities of our world. Backpack Concealed carry, of all types of gear, is a part of that equation.
