If you’re looking for that roughly $1000 thermal and mount combo to helmet mount look no further. We now have a way to helmet mount the Rix K3 to the symbiote bridge. (Disclaimer prices are subject to change especially with tariffs flying around)

Is this the perfect set up? No absolutely not. An ST6 would be better because it has better eye releif. But if you’re looking to be ballin on a budget this is the way.

There’s alot more to consider with a dual band system than one would think. Deciding which eye to run night vision and which eye to run thermal is a common theme of conversation surrounding setups like this. Let’s break it down.

It’s typically best practice is to run your night vision over your dominant eye. If it coincides with your dominant hand. The reasoning for this is to maintain your passive aiming and shooting ability with any red dot mounted optic on any pistol or rifle. For me I’m right handed and right eye dominant, so night vision is always over my right eye, this leaves my left eye for the thermal.

This is also a positive thing because we’ve found with use your mind is naturally drawn more to the thermal image for most people. This makes switching away from the thermal to look through night vision if the thermal is on your non-dominant eye easier.

Ultimately there’s no rules here to follow but getting time with your gear and figuring out which eye works best for you with which optics is always the most desirable outcome.
