"It isn't that hard to hide from thermal, just use glass." is a common concept we hear often. So, is it true? ⁠

The answer is no. In these thermal clips, we left the glass and thermal blankets in the ambient air to allow the temperature to become similar to the surrounding objects. ⁠
⁠
Not to mention the obvious fingers sticking out like a sore thumb (ha. get it?), the objects quickly warmed up on the thermal image due to the surrounding body heat. ⁠So no... glass and thermal do not work to hide heat signatures in nature.⁠

There are a lot of misconceptions out there about how to hide from thermal. One of the biggest ones we hear is that glass could save you from being spotted by thermal. If you are in nature with a piece of glass... you will be spotted easily. (Big perfect squares/rectangles don't blend in while in nature).⁠

As usual we have been running the RH25 a lot... but we have also been playing with the Photonis Vyper-14 with Boomslang Glass. Boomslang allows for 50° FOV on a single tube (this is about 10° more FOV than a typical PVS-14). This enhances the dual band system experience... more videos to come soon about this.⁠
